Commentary: Among the brightest stars in new Angolan writing, Sousa's penetrating first novel 'Patriots' is about a UNITA's exile in Zambia; its graphic descriptions of the atrocities endured were said to have irritated some UNITA leaders. He published a second novel, 'A Lonely Devil', in 1993. He is also a prolific writer for journals and newspapers.
