to concerns about transparency in the production chain and the illicit
activities of the security services in the region, so the Zimbabwe
African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) keeps the picture of
operations at the diamond fields deliberately murky. However, at a 24
February press conference in Luanda, Manuel Vicente, the Chief
Executive of Sonangol, Angola’s state oil company, confirmed
that China Sonangol, a joint venture between Sonangol and the China
International Fund (CIF), was mining diamonds in Zimbabwe....
