Japanese and Indian interest in Mozambican coal is growing and export prices are rising again. In a deal in March between the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance and Japan's Nippon Steel with coal, the price of coal was fixed at US$129 a tonne for the Japanese fiscal year. That is down from peaks of around $350 in mid-2008, but better than the $85 a tonne seen in mid-2007....
