East African countries have voted to abandon the EU's latest trade deals
The European Union’s Africa policy is in a shambles after the diplomatic disaster of the Economic Partnership Agreements, the multilateral trade accords which so many African states have rejected. Although there is support amongst African leaders for the trade and aid deals offered by Asian states, European trade deals are met with suspicion by both Western civic activists and African leaders. This month, the East African Community’s Legislative Assembly voted to abandon the interim EPAs signed by its member states and turn towards greater African regional trading – and deals with Brazil, China, India and Russia....
